The
Diagnostic and Support Team for Students with Hearing Loss and/or Vision
Loss, was previously known as the HCDB Diagnostic Team and housed at
the Hawaii Center for the Deaf and the Blind. On
July 1st, 2009 the Office of Curriculum and Student Support (OCISS) was
reorganized and the Hawaii Center for the Deaf and the Blind was moved from OCISS
and placed under Honolulu District, Kalani Complex. The Center was reorganized as a
school and the name of the center was changed from Hawaii Center for the Deaf and the Blind (HCDB) to Hawaii
School for the Deaf and the Blind (HSDB). The diagnostic team remains with OCISS but also went into reorganization under the Student Support Branch (SSB),
Comprehensive Student Support Services Section (CSSSS), within the Hawaii Department of Education. The HCDB
diagnostic team name was changed to reflect changes in
organization, and is now known as the Diagnostic
and Support Team for Students with Hearing Loss and/or Vision Loss. The
Diagnostic and Support Team office moved to 475 22nd Avenue and now
resides in
rom 224 of building 302. The Diagnostic and Support Team will continue to offer
specialized assessment and support of students with hearing and/or visual
impairments. Many of our services are provided in accordance with
the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), Chapter 61 HAR, and the
Board of Education, Student Regulations Series, and Policy number 2205
"Rights of Students who are Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, or Deaf/Blind".
